WHY CLEAN GREEN
The services we refer to your home strictly use environmentally friendly cleaning products, whether it's for your carpet, your windows, your toilet - doesn't matter. Whatever it is we're doing for you, we're going to do it in the way that is best for you, your family and Mother Nature. Allow us to step onto our [petroleum-free] soapbox for just a moment as we clean up a few of those dirty little rumors you may have heard:
Dirty: All-natural products work less effectively
Clean: Technological advances in the past decade have allowed all natural products to create superior lines that outperform most leading brands!
Dirty: Chemicals dumped down the drain get treated at the wastewater facility.
Clean: Most wastewater treatment facilities are not equipped to filter out cleaning products, and a large portion of the chemicals pass right into the local waterway that accept the treatment plant's supposedly clean effluent.
Dirty: An area is not cleaned unless it smells of ammonia and/or bleach.
Clean: The smell has nothing to do with how clean a space is! Most natural products are specially formulated to absorb dirt rather than chemically breaking it apart. Nothing is left behind - no dirt and certainly no harsh smell!
Dirty: Antibacterial cleaning agents are needed to help prevent the spread of disease.
Clean: The main ingredient in antibacterial soaps, triclosan, is an EPA registered PESTICIDE. This chemical is both a human health risk and a threat to the environment.
Dirty: Non-toxic means ineffective.
Clean: A non-toxic chemical is just as effective but uses alternative plant-based ingredients that are safer for the people who use them and live with them!
Dirty: If it's on the shelf at the grocery store, it must be safe! Clean: There are no federal laws requiring premarket safety testing by the manufacturer, and manufacturers are not required to list exact ingredients on the label. Some formulations are protected by trade secrets – this means that not even the government or poison control centers can find out the real ingredients!
Dirty: Swallowing, headaches, skin irritation - those are just short-term effects. If I use them carefully and keep them out of reach of children and pets, there’s no danger!
Clean: The Consumer Product Safety Commission has determined that more than 150 chemicals found in ordinary household products are directly responsible for producing long-term effects such as cancer, allergies, birth defects, and numerous psychological disorders - unfortunately, these 150 chemicals make up less than 2% of synthetic chemicals used in common everyday products. EPA studies indicate that human exposure to air pollutants indoors can be 2-5 times, and occasionally up to 100 times, higher than outdoor levels - a major source of this? Household cleaners. The National Cancer Association released results of a 15 year study concluding that women who work in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing cancer than women who work outside the home - once again, a major source of this is household cleaners!
